God’s Confirmations
The longer I walk with God, the more convinced I become that He delights in giving us confirmations, so that we may have a greater awareness of His will and plan for us. For instance, when my husband, Joe, and I bought our house more than 20 years ago, it came with an above-ground pool. We’ve maintained it diligently from year to year, without investing more money in it than we could afford. This year, our old pool finally sprang a leak that could not be repaired. We could either replace the entire thing, or tear it down completely.
Joe and I prayed and sought the Lord for what He would have us do. My husband was pretty certain that godly wisdom said that we should dismantle and discard the entire pool. But after he began the task, he started to waver. As he talked to the Lord about his misgivings while he labored, the pool sprang a second leak right before his eyes. Joe knew that this was just the confirmation from the Lord that he needed. And although it saddened him to have to take down the pool, he was relieved that God had given him the reassurance he had longed for.
You may be facing a dilemma of your own today. The Lord wants you to receive His best in your situation, and He is eager to confirm His will for you in ways that you can understand–if you will ask Him to. Take the Lord at His Word today when He says: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'” (Isaiah 30:21 NIV)
