Our Speech

by J. M. Farro on April 12th, 2010

LORD, I pray that I would let no unwholesome talk come out of my mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. I pray that I would never grieve Your Holy Spirit, but that I would always honor You with my thoughts, words, and attitudes. Help me to always speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ! (Ephesians 4:29-30 NIV; Ephesians 4:15 NLT)

SET a guard, O Lord, over my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips. Let the reply of my tongue always come from You. May the words of my mouth, and the thoughts of my heart, find favor before You at all times. And may I always declare with strong conviction–“I have resolved that my mouth will not sin!” (Psalm 141:3 NIV; Psalm 16:1 NIV; Psalm 19:14 NLT; Psalm 17:3 NIV)
