Prayers for Guidance and Direction

by J. M. Farro on April 15th, 2010

LORD, help me to trust in You with all my heart, and to not depend on my own wisdom or understanding. I pray that in all my ways, I will acknowledge You and seek Your will, so that You will direct my paths and make them straight and plain before me. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

ORDER my steps, Lord. Make my steps sure and firm. Uphold me with Your righteous right hand, so that I will never stumble or fall. I pray that no matter what I plan—no matter what anyone else plans for me—that You, Lord, will direct my steps and make them sure, and that Your purposes will prevail in every area of my life, and in every matter that concerns me. (Psalm 37:23-24; Proverbs 16:9; Proverbs 19:21)

SHUT against me every wrong door, and open wide before me every right door. Make me sensitive and obedient to Your Spirit’s leading in all things, so that I’ll always walk in Your perfect will, and receive Your absolute best! (Revelation 3:7-8; Galatians 5:25)

INSTRUCT me, Lord, and teach me in the way I should go. Counsel me, watch over me, and guide me with Your eye. Lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake, and help me to always do what honors You the most. Grant me a teachable spirit, a perfect heart, and a willing mind. Equip me with everything good for doing Your will, and work in me what is pleasing to You—through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever, amen! (Psalm 32:8-9; Psalm 23:3; 1 Chronicles 28:9; Hebrews 13:20-21)

SHOW me Your ways, O Lord. Teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me. For You are God, my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. (Psalm 25:4-5)

TEACH me Your way, O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your good Spirit lead me on level ground. (Psalm 86:11; Psalm 143:10)
